In Genesis 20 we discover that Sarah wasn’t just the wife of Abraham but also a half-sister of him as written in verse 12:
“וְגַם־אָמְנָ֗ה אֲחֹתִ֤י בַת־אָבִי֙ הִ֔וא אַ֖ךְ לֹ֣א בַת־אִמִּ֑י וַתְּהִי־לִ֖י לְאִשָּֽׁה”
“And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife” (Genesis 20:12)
Another interesting idea is revealed to us in verse 13 when we learn that Abraham mentioned that in every place that he went he presented his wife as his sister. This is also what have seen in Genesis 12:13.
That reminded me our last vacation in Paris, when at some points in the Metro we have decided to speak English instead of Hebrew. There are times in our life when we foreigners that we need to change our identity ij order to defend ourselves.
Is this is something that happened to you?
