Genesis 34:1- your child is always your child

I don’t know if you have heard, but sometimes when you are angry with your child – you can say to the chosen one (wife or husband) – your kid has done this or that. It’s usually happens when you don’t want to take responsibility on your actions or your parenthood.

I think that one of the first times in the Bible that this situation describe above happened is in Genesis 34:1-3, as written:

“And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.(Genesis 34:1-3)

When she went out-she was the daughter of Leah, and this was the case of commentaries to claim that Dinah has done something wrong, or was even a prostitute, God forbid. But, when the one that raped her and tortured her fell in love with suddenly she’s the daughter of Jacob.

surprising? Look at the first paragraph.

Sometimes people do that, but let us not forget that our child is always our child!

Have a good night, Eli
