When you read Genesis 36 it seems to be not connected to the stories before it and after that are related to Jacob and Jacob’s family. This is a chapter that is dedicated for Esau and hos descendants. We can learn how the Amalkites came from Esau (Genesis 36:12). We also learn how the brothers needed to separate for the same reason of Lot and Abram (Genesis 36:6-7) – the territory was not enough for Jacob and Esau.
The most interesting info that I have found in this chapter is written in verse 3, as written:
“Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite; And Bashemath Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebajoth”(Genesis 36:1-3).
The two firstborns of Abraham and Isaac are connected. The daughter of Ishmael was married to the son of Isaac. Is this the way of the author to remind us the tragedy of both?
The Bible I not telling us, what do you think?
Have a blessed week, Eli
