If I have been asking the watch of God, why didn’t the Israelites enter immediately into the Promised Land it’s written:
“And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: but God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.”(Exodus 13:17-18)
The Midrash told many stories about Pharaoh that sent the people as birds or as flowers or as fruitful trees and more that were changed and upgraded due to the exile of Egypt.
God could have brought to the land of Israel in a few days, 11 days exactly as written in Deuteronomy. But the watch of God thought about a journey that would be valuable to us until today. The watch of God thought that if you go out from slavery to wars in the Promised Land would bring the Israelites back to Egypt.
A question to you, dear readers. If you could choose where to be- in the wilderness for 40 years or in the Land of Canaan after 40 years- what would you choose?
